Common FAQs

The currently method used was Köhler illumination in which firstly described by Dr. August Köhler in the late 1800s, and is still widely adaopted for modern microscopes over 100 years later

5 Steps to perform Köhler illumination:

1.  Switch on the bright-field illumination. Focus your specimen
     (10X objective is normally used)

2. Close the field diaphragm.

3. Use the condenser focus knob to adjust the condenser until the iris opening is in sharp focus.

4. Use the condenser centering knobs to center the iris opening.

5. Open the field diaphragm until the iris opening are barely outside the field of view.
Repeat step 4 if the diaphragm opens off-center.

It is heartbreaking if the molds are growing on your new microscope within several yeras.

Here are several tips you can do yourself to prevent molding.

1. Regular Cleaning:

Clean the body of the microscope regularly with 70% ethanol.

Moisten the lens paper with lens solution to clean the objective, followed by a dry cleaning.

If you are using a oil-immersion objective, wipe the oil off the top lens with a kimwipe after use. Sometimes impurities may build up on the lightly oiled surface. If you wish to completely remove the oil, moisten the lens paper with oil-soluble solvent to clean the objective, followed by a dry cleaning.

2. Keep dry:

The microscopic systems should always be kept dry. Prevent to use the microcsope in wet and humid environment. Add an dehumidifier if necessary.

3. Handle with care:

A cover or case is recommended to put it in place when you aren't using the microscope.

Carry the microscope properly if you relocate your microscope. Users should be well-trained to reduce any damage to microscopes.

For manual microscope, the tension (torque) of the coarse adjustment knob can be adjusted by rotating the torque adjustment ring, located just at the back of the knob.

- To increase the tension, turn the torque adjustment ring anti-clockwise.
- To decrease the tension, turn the ring clockwise.

** Remark: Avoid decreasing the tension too much. Otherwise, the stage will fall under its own weight.

For manual microscope, the tension (torque) of x- & y-movement can be adjusted by turning the torque adjustment screw, located betwen the X and Y knobs.

** Remark: Avoid loosening the screws too mush. Otherwise, the gear may be damaged.

Here are several steps you can do yourself to check the imaging process.

1. Check the optical path in the micrscope. Make sure the light path can reath the camera port.

2. Make sure the power of the camera is ON.

3. Check the connection between the camera and the computer in the Device Manager.

4. Open the software and Click LIVE mode in the software.

5. Contact us if the problem cannot be solved.
